From Rotorua, we went up to Matamata -about 30 mins away. It’s a rural town in Waikato province. A nearby farm was the location for the Hobbiton – Peter Jackson Lord of the Rings film trilogy. The New Zealand government decided to leave the Hobbit holes built on location as tourist attractions, since they were designed to blend seamlessly into the environment. They have no furniture, but can be entered. We arrived there a bit early and since i had not eaten anything yet for breakfast, i managed to grab a piece of moist choc cake(it’s the most exquisite and delicious choc cake that i’ve ever taste) and a cup of hot mocha before the tour begun. Since the Hobitton Movie set is right in the farm, 360 degrees view are mostly sheeps and farms. Hehe!

“Kia Ora” means welcome or hello. Here we were, at Rotorua- one of the must visit place that consists quite a major Maorians populations in North Island,NZ. The city is known for its geothermal activity, geysers and hot mud pools. As similar as its name as ‘The Sulphur City’ as the first thing that people will notice or to be precise-breath once they reached Rotorua.

Things we did at Rotorua included hiking at Whakarewarewa Thermal Village, zorbing and visiting Tamaki Maori Village.

Back at the inn, we bumped into Abg Kumar – Malaysian Indian guy who’s working at Rotorua Hospital. I was looking for Kirah when all of sudden, i heard she was talking with someone in Manglish (Malay + English). Hahahah! It was nice to see Malaysian in a country that doesn’t has so many of them. (credits to Kirah for this pic).

Mr. Sunny – our guide of Tamaki Maori Village. Very nice, friendly guy and super cool too. I remembered he spelled my name as ‘Fairoose’ instead of ‘Fairuz’ in the guest list as he mentioned i pronounced like one. LOL!

They showed to us the right way to greet people in Maori way where the forehead and nose of two people were lean to each other. As they believe, all humans live and breath from the same air.

The Maorian dance. Trust me,these people sang beautifully. Their voices are very melodiscious.

Totally have no idea why i look so chub in this pic. Maybe it was due to the drugs taken. With doctor’s prescription, of course. But it’s ok, i’m no more longer on medication as i’m back to my normal size now-fit, healthy but no so slim. Hehe!
